Better Half is a product of StudioFest, a film festival that gives its winners the chance to develop a full film. The endeavor is led by Charles Irving Beale and Jess Jacklin, who will also executive produce.
“We’re very happy to bring Connor and Dianne together for our film,” Phelan added, “and we hope viewers will like it as much as we’re enjoying producing it.”
In the Cinemax series Warrior, Doan plays Mai Ling, the main character. She’s also renowned for her roles in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Good Trouble, Disney Channel’s Descendants series, Vikings, and other shows on television. The actress will next be seen in Chris Nelson’s comedy Reunion, opposite Nina Dobrev, Billy Magnussen, and others.
Paolo is most recognized for his role in ABC’s Revenge as Declan Porter. The Resident, Gossip Girl, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit are among her other television credits. Among other films, the actor has acted in Simon Verhoeven’s horror movie Friend Request and Jim Strouse’s The Winning Season. He’ll next be seen in Blair Underwood’s thriller Viral, in which he also stars.

EXCLUSIVE: Geoff Pierson (Designated Survivor) and Clark Backo (Letterkenny) have joined the cast of filmmaker Melissa Miller Costanzo’s independent comedy The List.
Halston Sage, Christian Navarro, Gregg Sulkin, Jonah Platt, Chrissie Fitt, Will Peltz, and Zach Reino are among the previously confirmed cast members.
Abby (Sage), a lady ready to be married for whom everything is perfect, is the focus of the film written by Rob Lederer and Steve Vitolo. Until she learns that her fiancé Matt (Platt) slept with one of the celebrities on his “free pass” list. Abby and her closest friend Chloe (Fit) come up with a ridiculous notion to take Abby’s mind off things: Abby should chase a celebrity from her own list. However, things get more complex when she meets Jake (Navarro), a kind and attractive server at a local café who offers her a new viewpoint.
Mayor Capozzi of New York City will be played by Pierson. Capozzi, who is about to announce his presidential candidacy, has a particular, paternal bond with Abby, who has been his speechwriter for the last five years. Kenzie Burke, the rising star who sleeps with Abby’s fiancé, will be played by Backo.
Nickel City Pictures is producing with Tobias Weymar, Annie Mahoney, and Mark Fasano, with Sage exec producing with Lederer, Vitolo, Eric B. Fleischman, and Maurice Fadida, and New Legend Entertainment funding.
Pierson is best known for his role as doomed President John Keeler on A24, and will next be featured in the new Amazon series The Terminal List, with Chris Pratt. Designated Survivor, Splitting Up Together, Castle, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, The West Wing, and more TV shows have featured the actor. He was most recently seen in Tyler Spindel’s Netflix feature The Wrong Missy, and has previously starred in J. Edgar, World’s Greatest Dad, Get Smart, Changeling, and other films.
Backo is an actor, writer, and activist who has acted on television in programs such as Hulu’s Letterkenny and The Handmaid’s Tale, Nat Geo’s The Hot Zone, The CW’s Supernatural, Designated Survivor, and others. She’s featured in a number of films, including Blumhouse and Netflix’s Seven in Heaven and Jay Baruchel’s Random Acts of Violence. Next up for the actress is the Amazon Studios rom-com I Want You Back, in which she co-stars with Jenny Slate, Charlie Day, and Gina Rodriguez.
