Laura Prepon has announced that she is no longer a Scientologist.
In an interview with People published Tuesday, the 41-year-old actress of “Orange is the New Black” and “That ’70s Show” discussed her life since becoming a mother, as well as how her relationship with the Church of Scientology has evolved.
About Laura Prepon Revelation on Scientology
Prepon told the publication, “I’m no longer practicing Scientology.” “Since I was a kid, I’ve always been a pretty open-minded person. I was reared as both a Catholic and a Jew. I’ve prayed and pondered in churches and temples. I’ve done some research on Chinese meridian theory. I haven’t practiced Scientology in almost five years, and it isn’t a part of my life any more.”
Prepon claimed she and her husband, 40-year-old actor Ben Foster, meditate together on a daily basis. According to People, Foster, with whom she has two children, has never practiced Scientology.
“We meditate every day, and I’m really enjoying it,” Prepon said. “It helps me hear my own voice, and it’s something we can do together.”
Foster and Prepon married in June 2018 after having their daughter Ella in August 2017. Foster featured in the Oscar-nominated 2016 picture “Hell or High Water.” Prepon revealed her pregnancy with the couple’s second child, a son, in October 2019.
The actress also discussed motherhood.
“How am I ever going to love a kid as much as I love my first?” she told the magazine after she had her second child. “Then you do, and you’re overcome with emotion. It’s amazing how things work out like that.”
She went on to say that receiving her two children made her think about her own upbringing.
“I was thinking so much on my own childhood and the way I was mothered as a brand new mother,” she added. “I was forced to examine a number of aspects of my life that I hadn’t previously considered.”
