Back Into Beginning of Mona Tougaard’s Early Beginnings

Mona Tougaard Flounting Her Modelling Shape

Mona Tougaard, despite being humorous and rebellious, didn’t feel ready for the modeling profession when she was spotted at the age of 12 — only three years after her mother died. She would encourage her younger self to “stop up” and simply go for it if she could go back in time. After she won Elite Model Look Denmark at the age of 15, everything would turn out well. In 2019, Tougaard made his debut as a Prada exclusive. She’s achieved more success than she could have imagined by now. Tougaard has worked on ads and shows for brands such as Loewe, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Chloé, Stella McCartney, and Burberry, among others. It’s safe to assume she’ll be one to keep an eye on.

Despite her (potential) success, Tougaard’s greatest ambition is to one day relocate to the Danish countryside, establish a large family, and live on a farm with numerous animals. Her perfect future was messed up when she was scouted as a model. It doesn’t have to be that way, however. Being yourself and being rebellious may go hand in hand with being a farmer. It’s a stunning one.

What are the latest professional highlights of new face model Mona Tougaard? “I began my season with Prada, which was my first large international show, and ended it with Chanel.” Casual. You may recognize Miuccia from her stride down the Pompidou Centre catwalk at Louis Vuitton, or Steven Meisel’s current Loewe campaign, in addition to her Wednesday Addams-inspired show and the emotional last collection of the late, great Karl Lagerfeld. For a debut season, it’s not awful.

Indeed, given the attractiveness of this Danish beauty, it’s difficult to find a big designer whose AW19 line-up didn’t include the new face. Tougaard, who hails from the tiny Danish city of Aarhus and has Somalian, Ethiopian, Danish, and Turkish ancestry, was named the winner of Denmark’s Elite Model Look competition in 2017, despite being recruited at the juvenile age of 12. Even if it’s just the beginning, she’s off to a great start. “I’m simply glad I had the chance to work (in) something I’ve always wanted to do,” she says.
