Pop and Step Mom Indicted For Murder Of Roman Anthony Lopez
Roman Anthony Lopez, a California 11-year-old whose body was found in a storage bin in his family’s basement. Prosecutors in their own state have charged them with murder.
According to the Mountain Democrat, El Dorado County Chief Assistant District Attorney Joe Alexander said, “On Thursday, we filed an amended complaint adding a murder charge against both Pipers.”
Jordan and Lindsay Piper were arrested in February on a variety of charges, including poisoning, child abuse, and torture.
Roman was reported missing on January 11, 2020. The next day, while conducting a search of his family’s house, detectives found his remains in a storage container in the basement.
Roman shared a home with his father, stepmother, and seven siblings. He was between the ages of one and seventeen at the time of his death, according to Placerville police.
“At the time of his death, Roman was reported to be very malnourished and dehydrated. Despite the fact that an autopsy revealed no evident signs of injury, “according to a press release. However, they did detect one thing: Roman had allegedly suffered before to his death.
According to the press release, “Roman was found to be very dehydrated and malnourished at the time of his death, despite the fact that an autopsy revealed no obvious injury.”
On Tuesday, the couple’s attorney information remained unavailable. Lindsey Piper remains in the El Dorado County Jail on a $1.3 million bond. According to prison records, Jordan Piper is being detained on $1.05 million bond.
Jordan Piper is also charged with wilfully failing to provide food and water to the child. Lindsay Piper is now facing a second charge of poisoning, Wren reports.
Due to the ongoing investigation, Wren said that he could not go into further detail concerning Roman’s abuse.
“I can assure you that we have evidence that establishes beyond a reasonable doubt each of the charges for which they were arrested,” he continued.
The pipers were captured in Calaveras County and sent to El Dorado County’s Placerville jail. It was not immediately clear if they had retained a lawyer to represent them.
A move to amend was made approximately two years after Roman’s death.
Prosecutors decided that there was enough evidence to raise the accusations of murder.
“I couldn’t figure out why it took so long.”
“It was fairly evident, they discovered him right there,” said Julie Clark, a Placerville neighbor.
Investigators may have been able to piece together what happened to Roman as a result of this, according to them.
When Roman was discovered dead in his family home in January 2020, his neighbors in Placerville recalled the panic that swept the area.
The Pipers were arrested for child abuse and torture just over a year later.
Lindsay was accused of poisoning as well.
