Tommy was scheduled to meet Paul in Tampa, Florida on December 18th. He defeated former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley on the undercard of Paul’s bout in August.

Tommy hails from a long family of boxers, but in 2019 he featured in the British reality program Love Island to expand his popularity outside of the sport.

Tommy, 22, stated in a tweet released by his promoter Frank Warren, “I am incredibly sad that I have been forced to withdraw from my bout with Jake Paul due to a bacterial chest infection and fractured rib.”

“I can’t describe how upset I am, and I really hope we can reschedule this fight in the New Year; this fight is more important to me than anything else.”
